Amazon is looking for an experienced professional to lead our Kindle content business in France. The Head of Content will be responsible for building and managing a content team that will work with publishers to increase selection available for Kindle customers. In addition, the Head of Content will be the ‘public face’ of Kindle to the French book industry and will play a role in increasing the awareness of the benefits Kindle brings to authors, readers and publishers.

The position will be based in France.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create relationships and establish terms with publishers, media companies, or other intellectual rights holders for the purpose of securing the rights to distribute their ebook content on Kindle.

  • Highest level of accountability, in particular on key business metrics as total selection, glance view weighted selection and procurement margin.

  • Support the communications of key Amazon messages across the French publishing industry to spread the positive impact Kindle brings to readers, authors and publishers.

  • Be part of complex strategic projects with significant financial impact.

  • Monitor industry to ensure best of class selection. Provide key industry insight to help guide new product development process.

  • Give support for the identification and evaluation of new strategic business opportunities.

  • Collaborate with legal to review contractual terms and conditions related to new and ongoing content licensing agreements.

  • Measure operational efficiencies both internally and externally. * Partner with finance and key leadership stakeholders to develop team budgets.

  • Contribute to forming long-term corporate strategy and goals.

Basic qualifications

  • Strong business judgment with a track record of successful negotiations and overall relationship management.

  • Fluency in French and English.

  • Proven analytical thinking, project management skills, attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.

  • A track record of proven success in past positions.

  • Ability to think strategically and tactically, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment is essential for success.

  • Bachelor's degree is required with Masters preferred.
