Purpose and responsibilities of the Maintenance Engineer :
The Maintenance Engineer has the primary responsibility to provide maintenance support to plant issues that are impacting production. He is leading maintenance programs, initiatives and local regulation requirements. In this role the Maintenance Engineer provides technical expertise which may be equipment based or repair technique based which impacts the availability and maintainability of the facility. The candidate report to the Site Leader.
The candidate will be responsible for all the Maintenance Engineer tasks in the Global Maintenance Work Process including:
Serves as a subject matter expert in equipment failures & repair techniques during root cause investigations.
Facilitate investigations and leading the root cause analysis process.
Provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting, equipment failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
For equipment that is critical for the process or local regulation ensures that work requests include engineering input on repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc. & if necessary provide onsite/offsite technical support for deviations from this data.
Ensures repairs, repair techniques, equipment specific training, are documented & made available.
Provides maintainability input to GMWP.
Develops maintenance operating discipline and organization in agreement with GMWP and GMISS.
Serve as primary contact with local contractors performing work on-site: ensure conformity with the Non Dow Services Standard. Represents the site in the SMAT team.
Develop maintenance spending plan to meet maintenance strategy and monitor.
Provides engineering input to work packages to ensure standards are followed.
Ensure proper communication and lead the organization and preparation of turnarounds.
During development of turnaround work provides input on development of work orders particularly on critical equipment requiring engineering review or input.
Provide equipment reliability & performance data to the technical resource networks for input into equipment purchasing requirements, evaluation of equipment performance, vendor performance, & modifications to MET.
Be the plant point of contact for equipment/maintenance issues.
The Maintenance Engineer role could include Reliability tasks:
Assist the Reliability engineer to facilitate development of the business / facility maintenance strategy, and solves reliability and availability losses through application of reliability technology and tools to enable the plant to meet its business plan and strategy and therefore the customer’s need.
Specific responsibilities could include, but not be limited to:
Identify and resolve the top reliability opportunities and causes of lost mechanical reliability.
Complete risk and reliability assessments of critical equipment and developing solutions to increase reliability.
Use Reliability Engineering tools (e.g. Weibull, RCI, FMEA) to increase AC and AMR
Develop a predictive/preventive maintenance strategy for the site.
Interpret PPM data and developing solutions and repairs based on PPM data.
Create the spare parts strategy based on risk assessments.
Participate in maintenance/reliability reviews of new projects.
Participate in plant health study and efforts to implement corrective action to maintain or improve plant health.
Function as primary technical support assisting the site on mechanical reliability issues.
Master Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering are the preferred disciplines).
Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader or Black Belt certification or a commitment to obtain these certifications is desired.
Must have good computer skills-Microsoft applications, E-Mail, etc.
French and English fluent level required.
5 or more years of manufacturing experience is required.
Candidate should have experience that includes packaging equipment, maintenance technical services, fixed equipment and plant engineering.
Would prefer varied work experience with assignments in functions such as production, maintenance, project management, improvement, and engineering.
Prior knowledge of FMEA, Root Cause Investigation Process Overview and Cause and Effect Analysis is preferred.
Required to work in an on-call capacity for plant emergencies.
